UMF 20+ or UMF 15+?
UMF 20+ has MGO 830+, higher than UMF 15+ (MGO 510+).
Is UMF 20+ the same as MGO 850?
No. Our UMF 20+ is MGO 830+ mg/kg, as shown on the label; the official minimum for 20+ is MGO 826.
UMF vs MGO?
MGO measures methylglyoxal only; UMF is New Zealand's grading system that includes MGO plus other authenticity and quality markers.
Does manuka taste different between UMF grades?
No – the taste is much the same. Grades differ in MGO and active compounds, not flavour.
What are the four UMF factors?
Every batch is tested for MGO (potency), leptosperin (authenticity – found only in manuka nectar), DHA (shelf life) and HMF (freshness).
Is New Zealand manuka tested before export?
Yes. All exported manuka must pass the Ministry for Primary Industries test: four chemical markers and a manuka DNA test.
